Feminine Power - ALANIS MORISSETTE

What a fabulous Sunday~@~

I had the pleasure of listening to Alanis Morissette talk about AUTHENTIC POWER.

Sister Goddess Alanis is OMazing.
Her powerful music (I'm a Bitch, I'm A Lover, I'm a Child, I'm a Mother)
among other OMazing lyrics and tunes -
the movies and TV roles she's chosen to play -
my SHERO!!!

A lovely program offered by Feminine Power and Women on the Edge of Evolution, Alanis was interviewed candidly and she shared some wonderful gems. What resonated for me:

1. She stayed true to her own authentic voice and integrity to her music

2. It is our response-ability to hold power in the world
3. She chronicles what is happening in her life - it takes commitment and courage
4. She follows her authenticity in the absence of role models

5. Time to STEP UP and STEP OUT to be Agents of Change

6. We Western women are single largest demographic with genuine interest in consciously
evolving holding the power to influence the World - woo hoo ~@~

7. I think of myself as an ANIMAL - sensitive nervous system

8. Authentic Power - ATTUNEMENT to SELF - soothe one's soul - raw creative EnerCHI

9. Being scared, heart palpitating - SHOWING UP and just saying YES

Hearing her speak and listening to her words, I am infused with faith and energy at all that we can create together in the World as we consciously evolve and claim our Power.

Alanis says: " Im still here - committed to our funny little journey
Sweetness of sharing my story and allowing it to be a collective experience
OFFERING it for the collective impersonal and allowing it to be their own"
She reminds us to stay connected to ourselves and listen to that tiny voice and express it.
She talks about having a circle of friends - girlfriends (Sister Goddesses, tee hee ) who support each other and listen. She says

- Our collective - all these little birdies - we're all flying -
- no final destination, no top and it's not lonely there
- creating a world, a community to land in when you are being a brave soul

She shared she'll be writing a book about all her practices. Some of the practices she mentioned: sitting in silence, having sacred altars, being in nature, and inner dialogue work 0 talking with all the different parts of ourselves that are terrified until it feels soothed or acknowledged.

Parting advice for other Shaky Poodles in the Movement - bravery is that quiet voice of courage - our job is to create muscle memory of just doing it anyways.

Thank you Sister Goddess Alanis for sharing and BEing - creating a role model for ME

Ginger Mama's Cousins

We drove a Red Mustang.  It had a horse on the front window just above the rearview mirror.  Just as we were completing the final stretch into Boone, we got passed by a Ram. Tee hee!!!

I believe the Universe communicates with me in signs.    Animal signs are the best!!!  The Horse totem is about riding in new directions and discovering our freedom.   The Ram totem is a sign of CHANGE and new beginnings.  Both WSM Noah and I were a little nervous about hanging with Soul Mama for a weekend.  In the past, our relationship had been a little rocky .  She has a completely different way of looking at life, however when she gets real

Right between Boone and Blowing Rock, that is where Soul Mama resides - in a beautiful golf community at the edge of a mountain, we stopped and bought some flowers.

And there is where I was reunited with two of my little Peeps, Charlie and Ellie Mae.  These are Soul Mama's babies.  Charlie first came to stay with us for two weeks in 2005.  We taught him how to swim and took him for long walks and brushed his hair and let him sleep on the bed with us and the Meows.  And he introduced us to our neighbors.  Walking with Charlie all sorts of people would come up and talk to us and get to know this cute face.

Ellie Mae joined the family a few years ago so Charlie would have someone else in the house his size and who spoke his language.  Although we have spent many cherished moments together *see Thanksgiving We haven't had the pleasure of private time with her yet but are looking forward to the privilege.

Being an early riser, I would get these Dog-God and Doggess-Goddess peeps to myself.  We would walk on the golf course and go through the early morning fog as we searched for good places to mark and pee.  We trotted down the hill and followed the beautifully manicured lawns as we walked for our morning meal.

I am looking forward to Ginger Mama meeting her cousins when they return to Florida, tee hee!!!

Sunday Scribblings #122 -- Do I have to?

"You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves."
- an excerpt from Wild Geese by Mary Oliver

I love these words. I love how they resonate in my heart and make me feel. I love the thought of "SOFT ANIMAL OF MY BODY " loving what it loves.

I was first introduced to Mary Oliver by a wonderful Goddess named
Dr. Jane Miner who I met at the Green Valley Spa in Utah. She shared with me Mary Oliver's The Journey.

The Journey

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice--
though the whole house began to tremble
and you felt the old tug at your ankles.
"Mend my life!" each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried with its stiff fingers at the very foundations,
though their melancholy was terrible.
It was already late enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen branches and stones.
But little by little, as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own,
that kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world,
determined to do the only thing you could do--
determined to save the only life you could save .

These words started me on my journey to find the soft animal within and finally be FREE. It gave me an opportunity to question and explore different paths then what I felt was the "WAY" dictated by our society and enforced by the media and movies and magazines. It made me reassess what I really thought I had to do.

Goddess Mary's words and Goddess Jane's life coaching (her prodding and wonderful questions) gave me permission to listen to that one quiet voice within and turn off all the other voices (within and outside of me) who were directing me how and who to be.

Slowly, slowly, one baby step at a time, I shed the trappings of who I thought I was a
nd what I had to do. I let go of what I thought was aesthetically pleasing and let my true ANIMAL nature come out.

I let my hair grow long, I stopped making it lighter or darker depending on the season and let my natural color and glow return.

No more heels - tee hee!!! and no more back-aches, head-aches, bunions. Finally letting my spine realign itself for comfort and ease of body rather than "having to do" sexy.

No more make-up. No more layers of color to make myself look better or enhance my self. Just me the way Nature intended me to be.

No more perfumes to give me a scent that is not my own. My true scent, my soft animal scent is so very appealing it seems to be attracting all sorts of interesting people & Meows and Bow Wows into my life. Tee hee!!!

And the funny thing is letting go of all these things that I thought I
had to do has given me permission to be real. Not having to do any thing has freed up so much energy and time. It's given me the opportunity to find out about ME - what I am passionate about, what revs up my juices, what I truly love. It has freed me to BE instead of do - back to being a HUMAN BEAN instead of a human doing.
